Iowa City's May Events

Energy & Community has some events coming up in May! For more information on any of these events you can email the Iowa City location at greeniowaIC@gmail.com or call 319-339-5399.

Thursday, May 9, 7-9 pm: Eco Film Festival: “Revolution: The Fight to Save Our Oceans” at the Iowa City Public Library in Meeting Room A.

The footage in REVOLUTION dramatically reveals evidence of ocean acidification caused by our passion for fossil fuels, resulting in empty stretches of expired coral reefs. In every previous mass extinction, coral reefs were the first ecosystems to be wiped out

Saturday, May 18, 10:30-11:30 am: Eco Book Discussion: “Kiss the Ground”, 10:30-11:30am, at the Iowa City Public Library in Meeting Room B. Please read the book prior to the discussion.

In Kiss the Ground, Josh Tickell, one of America's most celebrated documentary filmmakers, discusses the hidden power soil has to reverse climate change, and how a regenerative farming diet not only delivers us better health and wellness, but also rebuilds our most precious resource--the very ground that feeds us.

Thursday, May 22, 7-8:30 pm: Earth Friendly Forum: Climate Change is Sickening at Robert A. Lee in the Social Hall

*There will be light refreshments served and childcare provided with no fee

Saturday, May 25, 9-11 am, Nature Walk at Terry Trueblood Recreation Area

*There is no fee to attend this, but registration is required please register at www.icgov.org/activityregistration
