Home Energy Audits

Green Iowa's Energy & Community Branch is able to provide energy efficiency services to the public. Look below for what this all entails, or

check out their page here!

Home Energy Performance Audit

This first step assesses how much energy a home consumes and evaluates what measures can be taken to make the home more efficient. These are always free to everyone and open to the entire public! Green Iowa members will measure the level of air infiltration by surveying the extent of air leaks in the home, as well as walk through the home and search for areas where such energy loss might be occurring.

After the initial audit assessment, Green Iowa AmeriCorps members will schedule a follow-up weatherization to address problem areas. Members spend anywhere between 2-8 hours reducing air infiltration and making various efficiency improvements that can be found on the Energy & Community Branch site. Each home is quite different, but the cost of labor is always free.

Lastly, the Green Iowa team will conduct a post-weatherization test to calculate the effectiveness of our services.
