WHY WEATHERIZE?

• Save $$ on utility bills – Weatherization can save $50-$350 annually

• Make a long-lasting home improvement – We estimate our improvements will last 5-25 years

• Improve comfort - Reducing drafts maintains consistent indoor temperatures

• Help the planet by conserving energy – Conserving energy reduces the demand on fossil fuels

WEATHERIZATION STEPS

1) Blower Door Test

Specialized equipment measures the level of air infiltration in your home and calculates the $/year lost to HVAC inefficiencies.

2) Weatherization

Green Iowa AmeriCorps members spend 2-8 hours reducing air infiltration and making efficiency improvements in your home.

3) Evaluation & Education

Members conduct a post-weatherization blower door test to calculate the effectiveness of the weatherization services. Members also educate the resident on energy & money-saving strategies.

COST OF WEATHERIZATION

• We volunteer the labor, you fund the materials! Our crew leader will provide a materials cost estimate after your blower door test ($50-$350).

FREE materials for qualified LIHEAP recipients, senior citizens (ages 65+), disabled, and low income households
